hitscan is 10x less skill than rockets or even plasma

Plasma is just plain hard to hit. However, face off a noob with rockets against a noob with LG. Rockets win 90% of the time.

See, in Quake, you actually need to dodge while shooting... And it's actually not that hard to dodge (if you're up against guys at the same level as you). thus, prediction becomes much easier to rely on than hitscan; rather, predicting with hitscan is very difficult with the speeds involved in Quake.

Is there a Steam-release date announced yet?

Not quite yet. We've had another update though, which added some more medals ("revenge", "midair", "combo kill", etc). Also we have a new voice over announcer (which I'm not liking as much as the last one)

I think we'll be looking at a Steam release closer to December than anything...
Next month, or maybe in November, I'll be buying a subscription (you don't have to!) so I can spawn servers for us, should anyone here want to get some easy games to get used to Quake.
